Modeling, much like other industries, is made up of a variety of genres or types. Some types are big, while others are more niche. However, little do you know that there are many other types of modeling out there, and in each type, there are models whose names you don’t know but who are making a terrific income. Typically, female measurements are at 34-23-34, with a height of 5’9″ to 6″. They have to be around 16 to 21 years old. On the other hand, men have to be 18 to 25, with a height of 5’11” to 6’2″. Waist should be between 29” and 32”, shirt size between 15 and 15 ½ by the neck, and a sleeve size of 32 and 34. Jacket size should be between 40 and 42. These requirements are subject to change, depending on the standard look of the years and what the designers are looking for.
Editorial fashion modeling
Editorial models are the high-fashion models that you see in magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle. Female editorial models are generally 5’9″ to 6′ and are slim, with measurements that are usually around 34-24-34. Males typically go from 20 to 25 years of age, with a height of 6′ to 6’2″. Modeling agencies usually look at the complete package that the model presents when determining whether or not they can be editorial models. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t meet the measurements exactly.
Commercial models can be any age, any size, and any height, depending on the gig, because they’re needed for a variety of functions. Commercial models can do everything that isn’t normally associated with high fashion, covering many subcategories across various media. The emphasis is more on appeal and ability to showcase the product. They will be endorsing products and services, such as houseware, food, tech—the list goes on.

This category of modeling does not have a height or weight requirement, making it much easier to get into promo modeling than it is to get into many other types of modeling. While there are no height or weight requirements, there are other general requirements for booking paid promo work. This includes a great attitude, an outgoing nature, a nice smile, and the ability to easily learn.
Being a spokesmodel is perhaps one of the most profitable types of modeling, but it actually falls under promotional modeling. These models tend to have contracts with a company, acting as the face of the brand, being paid to attend events, making special appearances, and modeling in the company advertisements. On the other hand, trade show models are hired by a company to represent their brand at a trade show or convention. These models must have a very good understanding of the client’s product because they may be required to talk about it or answer questions from potential buyers.
Not to be confused with glamour modeling, lingerie modeling is not necessarily provocative and sexy. More often than not, the job may be for a closeup of a bra or a box of underwear.
